The situation
At Sopra Steria, I directed transformation portfolios across public and private sector clients. These assignments involved multiple stakeholders, technical dependencies and operational constraints. In some environments, delivery confidence and client trust needed to be rebuilt.
This case study draws together that period of portfolio and programme leadership. It reflects a body of work across assignments, rather than a single client project.
What I did
I translated strategic objectives into delivery roadmaps that took account of business readiness, technical dependencies and service continuity. Plans needed to reflect what teams and operations could support, as well as what sponsors wanted to achieve.
I strengthened governance, reporting cadence and delivery controls so senior stakeholders could see emerging risk, dependency pressures and where intervention was needed. Recovery and assurance work required direct conversations about the position of delivery and the decisions needed to move it forward.
I also line managed five Senior Project Managers, two Programme Managers and three Project Managers. Coaching, prioritisation and performance oversight helped establish more consistent standards and clearer accountability across the group.
What changed
Clearer roadmaps and stronger management discipline improved delivery predictability and leadership control. Sponsors had a better view of progress, risk and the choices requiring their attention.
For the delivery teams, the benefit was a more consistent way of working, with clearer expectations and stronger support in complex client environments.
